Suddenly, there was nothing straining against Lady Demon’s efforts to fly, or Teen Machine’s cable winch trying to do the same. As if someone had let go of a gigantic rubber band, the sorceress was snapped through the air, slamming into Teen Machine and knocking him off his bike once again.
They lay in a heap for a moment before Lady Demon got her wits about her enough to work out what just happened. Red energy gathered in her hand and she used it to snap the cable around her waist. “Get off me!”
In point of fact, she was lying atop Teen Machine, but this seemed to be lost on her as she levitated to her feet.
“That’s no way to treat him.” Zephyrus was at her elbow in an instant. “TM saved you from being pulled through.” He glanced back to see Rebound and Green Boarder running toward them.
Lady Demon made an annoyed sound. “Don’t even joke about that.” She extended her arms and the halo of lightening around her grew more dense, shielding her from view. “I’ll see you back… home.” When the energy faded, she was gone.
“Awww.” Teen Machine groaned, inspecting his arm. “She broke the cable off my grappler.”
Rebound was quick to offer him a hand up. “Don’t mind Lady D, TM. She’s…”
“Behaving unacceptably.” Zephyrus said, coming over to also help Teen Machine. He was even heavier than his armor suggested. “I’m very sorry, TM. Icthiani isn’t making much of an effort to adjust to the Blue World, or to get to know the rest of you. Please, give her time and… I will talk to her.”
“Nah, don’t worry.” Teen Machine strode to his bike. “Don’t yell at her on my account.”
Zephyrus raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. “I never yell. I present rational arguments. Often forcefully.”
“Still yelling in the sense he’s using it.” Rebound said.
“Come on guys, let’s get back home.” Boarder suggested with a smile. “I’ll give you both a ride there.” The telekinetic shield that served her as a surfboard expanded into something more akin to a flat bottom canoe and she motioned for them to climb aboard.
